The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our growing infrastructure and energy transition team, supporting the delivery of civil engineering and utilities projects under NEC contracts.
You will play a key role in the commercial management of projects involving substations, trenching, cabling, and associated civils works, ensuring strong cost control and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Provide commercial support across multiple utilities and infrastructure projects
- Manage project costs, forecasts, CVRs, and commercial reporting
- Administer NEC contracts, including Compensation Events and early warnings
- Prepare and negotiate Compensation Event quotations
- Manage subcontract procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Carry out site visits to assess progress and gather commercial information
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities alongside project teams
- Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure compliance with NEC procedures
- Site travel required (Swindon & Surrounding areas)
Essential
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, or energy projects
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts (ECC Options A/B/C)
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts, variations, and final accounts
- Ability to produce CVRs, forecasts, budgets, and commercial reports
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of cost control
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage workloads effectively and work within a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial systems
Desirable
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
- Knowledge of additional contract forms beyond NEC
- Experience using commercial management software or ERP systems
- Professional membership or progress towards RICS/CICES accreditation
- Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to commercial performance
