Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Works Deliver Manager to oversee the planning and execution of delivery on Network Rail projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating delivery schedules, managing logistics teams, and ensuring timely and efficient distribution of goods. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong leadership skills and a solid understanding of mechanical systems to contribute to our operational success, with experience of delivering the groundworks and civils packages for Rail projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily delivery operations, ensuring all schedules are adhered to and deliveries are completed on time.
- Coordinate with logistics teams, drivers, and warehouse staff to optimise routes and minimise delays.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance and organise repairs or servicing as required, utilising mechanical knowledge to assess issues.
- Manage inventory levels related to delivery supplies and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
- Lead, motivate, and supervise delivery personnel, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
- Analyse delivery data to identify areas for process improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including safe lifting practices involving heavy loads.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, incidents, and maintenance activities for reporting purposes.
Skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Mechanical knowledge is essential for diagnosing vehicle or equipment issues and coordinating repairs.
- Experience in logistics or supply chain management is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling goods or equipment.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with team members, suppliers, and clients professionally.
- Leadership qualities with the capacity to motivate teams and foster a collaborative working environment.
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving operational challenges promptly.
Must Haves:
- HNC/HND at Level 4/5 in Construction or proven industry experience – Essential
- Proven experience of working on the Railway – Essential
- Railway Safety Training (PTS/ COSS) – Essential
- SMSTS – Essential
- Experience of Cost Monitoring – Highly desirable
- SSOW planning – Desirable
- Strong problem solving skills and a proactive nature
- The confidence to act on initiative and communicate effectively
