The Role:
As a Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in helping people with complex needs live as independently as possible. You’ll work alongside a supportive team to deliver personalized care plans, support individuals with challenging behaviours, and assist with daily living activities. Your role will involve:
- Supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and mental health conditions with personal care, medication, and managing health conditions such as epilepsy and diabetes.
- Helping with daily activities, including meal planning, budgeting, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
- Supporting individuals to develop life skills, promote independence, and achieve their personal goals.
- Managing challenging behaviours in a calm and supportive manner, using positive behaviour support techniques.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with people we support, their families, and external professionals.
Vacancies available:
- Day shift: £13.05 per hour weekdays and £14.36 weekends.
- Full time (37.5 hours per week)
- Enhanced rate for overtime (over 37.5 hours per week).
- Time and a half or double time for public holidays.
What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working in care, especially with individuals with complex needs (e.g., autism, mental health, brain injuries, etc.) would be an advantage.
- A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to care.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, managing challenging behaviours (PROACT SCIPr training provided).
- Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety regulations, and best practices in supported living.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, between 7am and 10pm, including weekends and evenings.
Desirable (but not essential):
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care).
- Experience with specialist support (e.g., trauma-informed care, EUPD, or working with acquired brain injury).
