PURPOSE OF JOB:
To supervise, support, train a team of supervising social workers which ensures good practice throughout the organisation, which leads to high quality support to care and allows high quality care for all children the agency cares for. To work in partnership with other professionals in order to provide foster homes that keep children safe and enable children and young people to thrive and reach their potential. DUTIES
· To feedback to registered managers about cases.
· To problem solve and adapt to changing environments
· To ensure the organisation meets statutory regulations, national minimum standards and Family First Fostering requirements.
· Actively participate in foster care training pre and post approval.
· Review foster carer approval as required.
· Contribute to the development of the fostering service to meet unmet need and the demands faced by new legislation.
· Actively recruit and assess prospective foster carers as and when required.
· To support the staffing team to develop by providing training and case management.
· Develop positive and professional working relationships with colleagues within Children’s Services and with other agencies.
· To ensure high standards of Social Work practice throughout the organisation and alert the Registered Manager of issues in this area.
· To supervise different members of the organisation and some may include: supervising social worker, admin, students, etc.
· To participate in multiagency work in order to achieve positive outcomes for carers and young people.
· To provided case directions, support, and undertake decision regarding specific cases.
· To ensure all stakeholders (Staff, foster carers, young people, etc) are safeguarded at all times.
· To ensure placement stability for children we care for where we evidence the progress they make in order to achieve positive outcomes.
· To ensure the agency is adequately staffed this entails being part of the safer recruitment process.
· To attend various types of meetings within the organisation where some include: commissioning, stability, professional, LAC reviews and more.
· To audit and quality assure work and services provide by the company
· Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Under the direction of the Registered Manager to provide leadership and professional expertise to supervising social workers in situations of high complexity ensuring a high standard of service delivery
· Within the framework of current legislation, to deliver professional leadership for Family First Fostering social work staff within the team and provide effective professional service delivery. Ensuring that excellent standards of practice and services are provided to children and foster carers.
· To mentor/coach NQSW's and students to carry out assessments, care planning, implementation and review of services to children and young people referred to our service both individually and with colleagues from other disciplines, maintaining accurate records and reports in accordance with appropriate policies, procedures and current legislation.
· To assist the registered Manager and management team in the recruitment, induction, supervision and appraisal of team members and in the effective management of sickness absence and under-performance in accordance with Family First Fostering’s policies and procedures. whilst ensuring that equal opportunities and health and safety policies are fully integrated into the daily working of the team.
· Develop own professional skills through supervision sessions and undertaking appropriate training.
· Maintain awareness of changes in legislation, related policies and practices and implement these within own professional practice.
· Be willing to work flexibly (including evening and weekend work) if required. If the need arises to undertake tasks not specifically covered in the job description.
· To work in partnership with other professionals and regulatory bodies in the best interest of the child.
· Be registered as a Social Worker with the Social work England.
· To ensure all children / young people are safeguarded appropriately.
· To provide training to foster carer and staff members
· To provide the Registered Manager with accurate information and assist them with establishing, maintaining and utilising information systems to ensure best practice as part of a robust quality assurance system.
· To quality assure form F assessments, fostering household reviews and other written work.
· To contribute towards the updating and development of policies and procedures within the organisation.

· The post holder may be reasonably expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time
· Ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons, and to comply with the policies and procedures relating to health and safety within Family First Fostering.
· To present well written assessment reports, annual reviews and any other report or documentation to the panel within agreed timescales.
· To take responsibility for bringing any concerns relating to standards of care and practice to the attention of the appropriate person and to be ensure that these matters are appropriately dealt with in a timely manner and recorded as such.
· To directly manage and supervise SSW’s, providing formal supervision (minimum monthly) and recording discussions and actions in line with company Supervision Policy.
· To participate in regular professional supervision and continue to develop skills and fostering practice matters.
· To chair reflective group supervisions to the staff team.
· To organise/support staff in organising foster carers’ support groups.
· To undertake “out of hours” on-call duty and support foster carers dealing with crisis and needing advice.
· To ensure records are accurate and handed over to relevant parties the following day or at the earliest convenience.
· To monitor the SSW practice, recording and processes through the implementation of monthly SSW planner/monitors. And to monitor the practice and effectiveness of SSW’s and alert the Registered Manager to any issues relating to this
· To have a good understanding of and work within the Fostering Services Regulations and National Minimum Standards.
· To keep accurate and up to date case records of ongoing support and supervision of foster carers and record significant occurrences or incidents in line with current legislation.
· To carry out PDP and appraisals for SSW’s and agree targets and action plans for each in line with company Appraisal policy.
