An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Care Quality Director to join a dynamic, growing residential care home company covering our currently operational and future homes in the Midlands region.
The Care Quality Director is responsible for ensuring that all Care Homes within the Managing Director’s region are clinically safe to operate, and that homes are a place of calmness, happiness and enhanced well-being. This role ensure Crystal Care Collection standards for Care Quality and Governance are adhered to and that every care home provides safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care at all times, to all residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts audits and governance checks to ensure Crystal Care Collection standards are met at all times, including care plans, monthly governance visits, incident logs and Health & Safety procedures and action plans. Is the Nominated Individual for CQC purposes (and/or Responsible Individual for CIW purposes) for the region.
- Visits homes (announced and unannounced) to assess resident wellbeing and conduct compliance audits.
- Prepares weekly & monthly governance reporting in line with governance procedures and submits to both the Managing Director and the MD Group Care Services in line with Care Governance guidelines, ensuring that all appropriate actions plans are in place.
- Recruits and Manages team of Care Plan Managers and Quality Managers ensuring they are appropriately qualified and trained, keeping up to date with latest legislation and ensuring team work to correct pace and rhythm.
- Identifies risks and plans Care Quality team’s workload accordingly, flexing unannounced visits to prioritise critical risks. Escalates risks up to Managing Director, and where necessary then up to MD Group Care Services, COO and CEO if required (reflecting their role as Nominated or Responsible Individual).
- Supports MD Group Care Services with crisis management and resolution of incidents.
- Builds and maintains relationships with Local Authorities. Proactively engages with 3rd party partners to remain up to date with the latest requirements.
- Manages the workload and priorities of Care Quality teams to prioritise resources according to risk assessments and critical priorities.
- Reviews recruitment practices and performance management outputs for all care staff, escalating quality concerns with management.
- Reviews training completeness statistics and escalates concerns to appropriate management.
- Supports MD Group Care Services in designing Crystal Care Collection policies, procedures, governance frameworks and job descriptions – as required.
- Strives to be the ambassador of the Residents’ best interests at all times, not hesitating to escalate any concerns to the region’s Managing Director, or the MD Group Care Services or COO/CEO if required.
Person Specification
- Proven Leadership: Experience in senior management within a Care setting, with proven track record of delivering improved standards of Care through developing talent.
- Care Experience: Multiple years’ experience of working in Adult Care settings.
- Regulatory Expertise: Experience of working closely with regulators and local authorities essential.
- Results Orientation: Experience in managing teams across multiple sites/locations required. A passion for improving the lives of residents essential.
