Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and versatile General Handyman to join our dynamic facilities maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our residential care home. Your expertise in basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems will help maintain a seamless environment for residents and staff. Duties
- Perform routine maintenance tasks across our residential care homes, including repairs to plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment
- Conduct general handyman duties such as painting, carpentry, repairs, and basic flooring work to enhance property appearance
- Operate tools such as power tools, lawn mowers, safely and effectively for various repair projects
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
- Supervise or assist with small-scale projects, ensuring quality standards are met while adhering to safety protocols
- Support facilities management by inspecting infrastructure, identifying potential hazards, and implementing preventative measures
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing residents / management concerns promptly and professionally
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs
- Experience with care home maintenance a bonus but not essential
- Ability to adhere to policies and procedures keeping records of weekly/monthly regulations
- Ability to read technical schematics and facility diagrams accurately
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance practices within residential or manufacturing settings
- Excellent communication skills in English for clear reporting and customer interactions
- Leadership or supervising experience to coordinate small teams or contractors effectively
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes or painting techniques is a plus

Pay: £12.71-£13.50 per hour
