ALS Managed Services is recruiting for the role of Logistics Controller/Weighbridge Clerk for our client based in Kirkless RC/TS WN2
Duties and key responsibilities: Weighbridge Operations
- Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and to comply with safety rules/procedures and codes of practice
- If aware of any unsafe practice or conditions, or if in any doubt about the safety of any situation, consult their supervisor
- To report any accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence or dangerous conditions to their line management
- To avoid improvised arrangements and suggest ways of eliminating hazards
- Not to participate in horseplay or place fellow employees in danger by their actions
- Adopt a proactive manner to energy usage and suggest ways of improving energy performance
- Cooperate and where necessary, participate fully in all emergency action activities such as fire drills, spill drills, fire alarm tests and similar events
- Cooperate with, contribute to and monitor the Traffic Management Plan adherence at the facility and report any non-conformances via the appropriate process promptly
- Should an emergency arise, participate as directed to carry out role of co-ordinator for emergency services and carry out any escalation tasks outlined in the Fire Prevention Plan and Emergency Management Plan
- To prepare, administer and renew hazardous waste consignment notes, export consignment notes and other associated paperwork in relation to the responsible receipt and transfer of goods to and from the facility
- To make and maintain appropriate entries into the site diary and record any anomalies that may support the reasoning for over time vehicles or other such delays
- Ensure accuracy of information collected on all weighbridge transactions and be prepared to produce manual tickets in the event of weighbridge outage
- Ensure all duty of care requirements are met - it is an absolute condition that the post holder undertakes training and maintains competency of duty of care requirements
- To perform site inductions and check that the inductee database is updated and the inductee has fully understood the induction
- Receive, handle and respond to internal and external enquires
- Carry out routine inspections of the weighbridge and the access road to and from the weighbridge to the main entrance gate
- Carry out littler picking and report litter and debris to the Area Supervisor/ Contract Manager as necessary
- Ensure that the weighbridge building is clean and tidy and available for inspection or audit at any time
Duties and key responsibilities: Logistics
- Ensure that all transport movements are well thought out, planned and ensure minimal empty running
- Use the knowledge and experience of fleet drivers to maintain awareness of travel times/peak and off-peak delivery window
- Issues out instruction and provide paperwork to vehicle drivers
- Receive, de-brief and check for accuracy all paperwork handed in by road going fleet drivers
- Input raw data for fuel. adblue, oils and milage information to company database for mobile plant vehicles and road going fleet vehicle
- Assign appropriate and fair workload distributed across all available vehicles and further ensure that internal movements are considered when allocating duties
- Be the first point of call for defects or vehicle related issues that could cause delay or other such difficulty with the provision of a road going vehicle
- Ensure accurate and professional dialogue with transfer stations staff to ensure containers can be loaded promptly and with the correct commodity as required
- To escalate any matters that are uncommon or when any difficulties are experienced with planning/ road closures/ defects/ breakdowns etc to the relevant person
Demonstrable skills in achieving demanding work requirements and ensuring customer needs are met.
Experience
- Ability to work on own initiative and with minimal supervision
- Smart appearance - upper body uniform is provided which must be worn
- Ability to communicate well with staff, customers, clients, members of the public and any other visitor to any of our facilities
- Preferably trained and competent to operate the weighbridge on the contract.

Shift pattern: 3 days a week Wednesday - Saturday
Working Hours: 06.00- 18.00
Pay rate: £13.79 per hour with a disturbed lunch break (paid) – weekly pay
