About the Role
As a Sensory Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, communication needs and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
A key responsibility of the role will be preparing and delivering daily sensory circuits, ensuring equipment and activities are set up to support pupils with emotional regulation, focus and readiness for learning. You will also provide 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day, helping pupils access learning and develop confidence within the classroom.
This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same.
Your Role Will Include:
- Setting up and supporting daily sensory circuits and sensory-based interventions
- Providing dedicated support to pupils with SEN and additional needs
- Supporting children with emotional regulation and sensory processing difficulties
- Working 1:1 or in small groups to support learning and engagement
- Building positive, trusting and consistent relationships with pupils
- Supporting classroom routines and transitions throughout the school day
- Assisting teachers in implementing behaviour and support strategies
- Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
- Helping create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
- Monitoring pupil engagement and reporting progress to school staff
