Role overview:
We are seeking an experienced and professional Class 1 HGV Driver to join our Transport team based at our new Transport Hub in Basingstoke.
This role involves carrying out scheduled trailer swap operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of goods between our Head Office in Yorkshire and Basingstoke Hub. The successful candidate will work independently, maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service at all times.
Operating in a fast-paced transport environment, you will play a key role in supporting our logistics operation by ensuring trailers are exchanged and transported efficiently, helping keep our nationwide supply chain running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 articulated vehicles in accordance with company procedures and road transport legislation.
- Complete scheduled trailer swap movements between the Basingstoke Hub and Head Office.
- Conduct trailer exchanges efficiently while ensuring all loads remain secure and undamaged.
- Carry out daily vehicle and trailer inspections, including at the exchange point, reporting any defects promptly.
- Maintain accurate transport documentation and records.
- Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Tachograph, and Working Time Directive regulations.
- Communicate effectively with transport teams and site personnel at both locations.
- Maintain a clean, professional, and presentable vehicle at all times.
- Follow all Health & Safety policies, Safe Systems of Work, and company procedures.
- Contribute to a safe and efficient working environment.
- Represent Easy Bathrooms professionally when interacting with colleagues, customers, and third-party sites.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential
- Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) Driving Licence.
- Driver CPC Qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
- Minimum 2 years' Class 1 driving experience.
- Good understanding of Driver Hours, Tachograph Regulations, and the Working Time Directive.
- Strong awareness of vehicle safety and compliance requirements.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Reliable, professional, and flexible approach to work.
- Good understanding of spoken and written English.
Desirable
- Previous trunking or trailer swap experience.
- Experience operating from transport hubs or distribution centres.
- Knowledge of nationwide logistics and distribution operations.
- Experience within a fast-paced transport environment.
