Judged by OFSTED as Strong in all areas, we are a non-profit, non-maintained special school based in Wavertree Liverpool. We educate and care for pupils with special, visual, sensory, and complex needs aged 2-19. We also offer an after-school club, parental support, and intervention support for our pupils. We have a strong multi-disciplinary team including occupational therapy, habilitation, physio, nursing, speech and language, music therapy and other specialists. All of our staff are highly trained including qualified teachers of the visually impaired, multi-sensory impaired, habilitation and other specialisms. Our facilities, specialist environment and grounds are carefully adapted to meet the needs of our pupils and young adults. All this ensures a focus on independence, with a team around the child approach.
We are recruiting for a newly developed ‘Support Team’. We are looking for teaching assistants with energy, enthusiasm and passion to support pupils across the school to be able to access and engage in their daily timetable. This will include supporting them in accessing our multi-sensory curriculum, meeting their individual care needs and developing their personal, social, communicative and independent living skills. You will be expected to carry out physical tasks such as supporting with personal care, postural care, feeding, and changing. You will be supporting with the swimming timetable in and out of the pool. You will have a designated timetable which will allow you to support and follow a range of plans provided by the multidisciplinary team throughout the day for a range of pupils. There may be times when you support classes with trips and offsite visits. You will be provided with suitable training to support you in fulfilling this role. Some training might include TeamTeach, sensory & SALT strategies, moving and handling and emotional regulation.
You should be qualified to at least NVQ level 3 in a relevant field. Ideally, you will have had experience of working with children with VI, sensory processing, complex and medical needs.
