Responsibilities
Position Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the development of new Wheel & Brake equipment at Ansty Park as defined by customer and government requirements as well as internal standards. This encompasses adherence to performance, cost and schedule requirements. In this position you will also support our internal customers to ensure the business delivers its commitments to its contractual customers and operators.
Key Responsibilities

Required to perform and check/approve performance calculations and simulations to validate that the equipment will meet the required design requirements

When required, lead / be responsible for the overall Wheel & Brake project

Creation, review and approval of technical requirement documents in accordance with government standards, company standards and customer requirements

Responsible for all phases of Wheel & Brake new product development including requirements management, requirements validation, design manufacturing phase, qualification / certification testing and initial entry into service

Responsible to ensure all program targets are satisfied, including technical performance, non-recurring costs, recurring costs and project schedule. This includes coordination with other Engineering functions to support the equipment development

Responsible for assisting and tracking of key metrics through the development process including non-recurring costs, design to cost, design maintenance costs, reliability, and weight for their assigned equipment
Essential skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for this position
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
-
Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience
-
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and working knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes

Project management skills including cost and schedule tracking 5. Experience with Design Failure Mode and Affects (DFMEA) and Risk Analysis

Good communication skills – able to make presentations to customers and lead daily discussions with group of engineers, designers and technicians
Ideally, you’ll also have

Aerospace experience preferred, wheel and brake experience desirable

Aircraft Systems knowledge or experience preferred
-
Continuous Improvement training preferred
