Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with elderly individuals, particularly those requiring specialised care such as dementia or Alzheimer's. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating a variety of recreational programmes aimed at enhancing residents' quality of life and promoting social interaction. A strong focus on communication skills and empathy is essential to foster a warm and inclusive environment for all residents.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate a diverse programme of activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
- Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings that promote socialisation and mental stimulation.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are suitable for individual residents’ health conditions and mobility levels.
- Monitor residents’ engagement and provide personalised support to encourage participation.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation, and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive atmosphere that encourages residents to express themselves freely and enjoy their daily routines.
- Liaise with families and external organisations to organise special events or outings that enrich residents’ lives.
Experience
- Previous experience working in assisted living, residential/ nursing homes or senior care environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and general caregiving practices is advantageous.
- Proven ability to organise engaging activities for older adults with diverse needs.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Experience in creating inclusive programmes that cater to various cognitive and physical abilities.
