Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and practical individual to join our team as a Sealegs & Aftersales Technician. This role will suit someone with the following skills and experience. Small vessel/RIB (Up to approximately 12m) fit out/rigging experience, technical diagnostics, outboard engine servicing experience, willingness to travel within the UK and overseas, when necessary.
This role involves fitting mechanical, electrical, and marine components to a high standard, ensuring all vessel are safe, functional, and ready for use. It should be noted the successful candidate will be required to undertake other reasonable duties as part of this role.
Duties
New Build and Service/Repair of Small RIBs
Practical:
- Fit out small vessel/RIBs (Up to approximately 12m) according to build specifications and drawings. Specialising in Sealegs Amphibious RIBs.
- Install marine equipment including consoles, seating, fuel systems, steering, controls, and outboard engines (where qualified).
- Perform basic marine electrical installations and fault-finding (wiring, batteries, navigation lights, switches).
- Strip, inspect, and overhaul hulls, decks, tubes, valves, and fittings.
- Bond and secure fittings to hulls and tubes.
- Overhaul steering, fuel, and control systems.
- Remove, refit, and align consoles, seating, and accessories.
- Perform quality checks, pre-delivery inspections, and prepare boats for testing, inspection, or return to service.
- Undertake sea trials.
- Use hand and power tools safely and correctly.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area.
- Follow workshop safety procedures and quality standards
- Travel frequently within the UK and occasionally overseas, when required.
- Carry out regular maintenance and servicing of Sealegs vessels, as well as provide specialist aftercare.
- Promote and sell upgrades, service solutions and products
Administration:
- Produce vessel inspection reports, including recommended actions
- Assist with producing quotations for recommended repairs
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
- Commission and test hydraulic systems.
- Report issues, defects, or improvements to supervisor
Requirements
- Practical experience in boat building, marine engineering, and vessel fit out (Required)
- Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Basic understanding of marine electrical systems
- Comfortable working with tools, adhesives, and sealants
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings or instructions
- Ability and willingness to travel (primarily UK based) at short notice
- UK Security clearance may be required
- Marine engineering or boatbuilding qualification
- Experience with RIBs/ Small vessel
- Electrical or mechanical certification
- Full UK driving licence
- In date passport
