Burnhouse Engineering is looking for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead our fabrication and welding team. This is a hands-on role for someone who can manage people, maintain quality standards, and keep production moving efficiently.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the workshop floor, drive productivity, and maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the workshop
- Manage and support welders, fabricators, and apprentices
- Allocate jobs and labour effectively to meet deadlines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ensure all fabrication work meets quality standards and specifications
- Maintain health and safety compliance across the workshop
- Monitor stock levels and materials for ongoing projects
- Carry out quality checks and inspections before dispatch
- Assist with hands-on fabrication and welding when required
- Train and mentor apprentices and junior staff
- Coordinate with management to improve workflow and efficiency
Requirements:
- Strong background in welding and fabrication
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- Ability to read technical drawings accurately
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety
- Experience managing workflow and deadlines
- High standards of quality and attention to detail
- Ability to lead by example and maintain discipline
Preferred:
- Experience with structural steel, bespoke fabrication, or agricultural/industrial engineering and process pipework
- Forklift licence
- Welding qualifications (MIG/TIG/Stick)

Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
