The Royal Victoria Hotel is a busy 104-bedroom hotel uniquely located at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) within Eryri National Park, set in 30 acres of private gardens and woodland in the beautiful village of Llanberis.
Our hotel features an AA Rosette restaurant, a popular dining and bar operation and an award-winning wedding and events venue. Our team members are key to our success, and we are proud to employ many long-serving staff.
We are looking to employ a motivated Maintenance Operative Apprentice to join our team. This position is most suited to a school or college leaver and offers a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on skills in maintenance within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will gain practical experience working alongside experienced professionals, contributing to the upkeep and optimisation of plant machinery and systems. This paid apprenticeship is ideal for individuals eager to build a career in maintenance, with potential for future progression into supervisory or specialised roles.
Key Responsibilities
Planned & Reactive Maintenance
Assist with routine inspections and maintenance across hotel bedrooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, restaurant, bar, and event facilities.
Support minor repairs including basic plumbing, decorating, carpentry, joinery, and general maintenance tasks.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests raised by operational departments.
Carry out preventative maintenance activities under supervision.
Facilities & Building Operations
Help ensure hotel systems and equipment remain operational and maintained.
Assist with monitoring heating, lighting, ventilation, water and building services.
Support room and event space set-up requirements as required.
Maintain storage areas, workshops, and maintenance equipment in a safe and organised condition.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Follow all health and safety procedures and hotel policies.
Support compliance checks and record keeping, including fire safety and statutory testing schedules.
Have an awareness of personal limits and escalate complex issues to supervisors.
Report hazards, defects, and safety concerns promptly.
Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and responsibly.
Guest & Team Support
Deliver a professional and helpful service to internal departments and guests.
Support the smooth operation of conferences, weddings, and events through facilities preparation and maintenance.
Work collaboratively with housekeeping, bar, restaurant, reception and events teams.
Learning & Development
Complete all apprenticeship coursework, assessments, and training requirements.
Participate in regular reviews with line managers and apprenticeship providers.
Develop knowledge of hospitality facilities management and hotel operations.

Essential
