£108.50–£120 per day | Full-time | Monday–Friday | 8:30am–3:30pm Temp-to-perm opportunity after 12 weeks
Are you a Care Assistant looking to transition into a school-based role where your experience truly makes a difference?
We are recruiting Care Assistants to work in a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Complex Needs and PMLD. This role is specifically ideal for professionals from care, residential, support work or healthcare backgrounds who want to move into education while continuing to use their hands-on skills.
Many care assistants have already made this transition and thrived in educational settings — enjoying more structure, consistent routines, and the chance to support long-term development rather than short shift-based care.
Class sizes are small (no more than 12 students per class), allowing you to focus on quality care, connection and individual progress.
The Role
In this school-based Care Assistant role, you will support pupils throughout the school day, helping them access learning while meeting their physical, emotional and sensory needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support within the classroom
- Supporting pupils with complex physical, sensory, communication and emotional needs
- Delivering personal care, including feeding, toileting, hygiene and mobility (essential)
- Using specialist equipment and following individual care plans
- Supporting emotional regulation, engagement and independence
- Building safe, consistent and trusting relationships with pupils
This role allows you to apply your care experience in a structured, supportive daytime environment.
Why Care Assistants Thrive in Schools
- Consistent daytime hours (no nights or weekend shifts)
- Term-time work with school holidays
- A calmer, more predictable routine than shift-based care
- The chance to support long-term development and progress
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary education team
What We’re Looking For
- A background in care, residential care, support work, healthcare or similar
- Experience with personal care (essential)
- Confidence supporting individuals with SLD, complex needs or PMLD
- Lived or informal SEN experience is also welcomed
- A calm, compassionate and reliable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Full-time availability (8:30am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday)
- Full right to work in the UK (essential – no sponsorship available)
No previous school experience is required — your care skills are highly transferable and valued.
