Job Title: Junior Plant Fitter
Location: Kearsley, Bolton (national travel may apply)
We have expanded the Group over the last 5 years, and with this we have successfully opened our own Plant Division, which boasts modern workshop facilities, a top of the range fleet with over 70+ items of excavators, specialist tunnelling equipment, crawler cranes and other notable machines and vehicles that will require maintenance and upkeep to ensure the fleet is fully operational and available for our live projects. With this, we are looking to expand our team and are in need of a junior Plant Fitter with a passion for the role, and experience in maintaining fleets of various equipment in the plant, construction and civil engineering sector.
What you ll be doing
As our junior plant fitter, you ll be responsible for:
Carry out inspections, diagnosing any faults and defects on Bethell Plant Equipment, related equipment and components. This includes testing, dismantling, overhauling, repairing, and re-assembling as required.
Participates in supporting operatives and employees in preventative maintenance checks, services and general maintenance and repairs of Bethell Plant Equipment, related equipment and components.
Perform emergency call out repairs as required.
Participate and support in planned maintenance downtime, liaising with all parties on affected key projects that will be using Bethell Plant Equipment at the time.
Ensure that all work done by the team is carried in line with the safe systems of work and that appropriate PPE and safety equipment is used at all times.
Accurately complete the necessary paperwork in a timely manner as required to comply with the Bethell Group policies and procedures.
Comply with all Health, Safety, HR and Environmental policies and procedures.
Dealing with and reporting any major defects, concerns or problems with Bethell equipment, prioritising this accordingly.
Carry out random checks and audits on Bethell Plant Machinery under remit.
Predominantly be based at our Kearsley HQ, however there may be instances where work must be completed on site for breakdowns, servicing & maintenance.
What we re looking for
We d love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in a plant fitter role (plant and/or construction background preferred)
- Experience and competency of fault-finding, maintenance and repair of heavy-duty construction plant
- Knowledge of safe working practices and basic Health & Safety requirements
- Good organisational, time management and communication skills
- Enthusiastic mindset with a determination to learn & progress within your role as a Plant Fitter.
- Can work on your own independently or work effectively as part of a team
- A driving licence (essential)
- You may be required to work outside of normal working hours for call outs and emergency works that could involve nights and weekends
- You may also be required to work away at times depending on active schemes at the time
- Minimum 2-3 years post qualification experience working as a Plant Fitter
- You may be required work away depending on active schemes at the time or for training purposes (expenses will be met).
