We are looking for an experienced sock machine mechanic to assist with the set-up of a new venture.
This is a flexible role and would suit someone retired, semi-retired, or looking for part-time work within the hosiery industry.
The right person must have relevant hands-on experience working with single cylinder sock knitting machinery and be confident supporting with machine set-up, adjustment, maintenance, and general troubleshooting.
This is not a high-pressure production role at this stage. We are looking for someone knowledgeable and practical who can help get machines running correctly, advise on set-up, and support the early development of the operation.
Duties may include:
- Assisting with the installation and set-up of sock knitting machines
- Setting and adjusting single cylinder machinery
- Fault finding and basic mechanical repairs
- Supporting sample trials and production testing
- Advising on spare parts, tools, and machine requirements
- Helping to identify and resolve technical issues
- Supporting the general set-up of a small sock production environment
The ideal person will have:
- Previous experience as a sock machine mechanic or hosiery technician
- Relevant experience with single cylinder sock knitting machines
- A practical, hands-on approach
- Good fault-finding ability
- Ability to work independently
- A flexible attitude
- Experience in sock or hosiery production
This role can be flexible around the right person. We are open to discussing working days and hours, and the position may suit someone who is retired or semi-retired but would like to stay involved in the industry.
Pay: £13.45-£15.00 per hour
