About the role
We're recruiting two female support workers to join a small, close-knit team supporting a fantastic 10-year-old boy at home with his family in Stockport. He's funny, full of personality, and lives life at full pelt and because of his brain injury, he needs the right team around him to do all the things a 10-year-old should be doing.
He doesn't attend school, so you and the team are a big part of what makes his day brilliant. You'll be supporting him at home and out in the community, working alongside his family, a case manager, and his therapy team.
This is active, on-your-feet, hands-on work. If you'd rather be running around at the park, swimming, or out exploring than sitting at a desk, this role is for you.
What a day might look like
- Helping him get ready for the day with personal care (done with dignity and a lot of fun)
- Therapy sessions with his team, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy
- Learning and play activities at home
- Getting out and about, swimming, parks, soft play, sports, days out, community activities
- Supporting his confidence, independence, communication, and everyday life skills
Every day is genuinely different. Some days are full-on active adventures; others are gentler days at home. The team works closely together so he gets the best possible life.
What we're looking for
- Paid experience working with children in a care, support, education, or similar role
- Some understanding of brain injury, or similar conditions like complex needs, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, or learning disabilities. You don't need to be an expert, but you do need to "get it"
- Fit, active, and energetic, this is a hands-on role with a lively young boy who loves being on the go
- A full UK driving licence with no significant points or bans, you'll be driving the family's car, so you must be 21 or over (insurance rule, not ours!)
- The right to work in the UK without sponsorship- sorry, we're not able to sponsor visas for this role
- A warm, fun personality, real patience on the tricky days, and a genuine love for working with kids
This role is open to female applicants only. This is a Genuine Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010.
What we're offering
- £17.50 per hour PAYE, genuinely above market for support work in the Stockport area
- Permanent contract, choose between 32 hours or 24 hours per week
- Holiday pay, sick pay, workplace pension, full PAYE benefits, not umbrella, not self-employed
- Comprehensive paid induction including brain injury training, moving and handling, safeguarding, and shadowing the existing team
- Regular clinical supervision and reflective practice, you'll always have support
- Working with a CQC-regulated employer that genuinely invests in its staff
- The deep satisfaction of work that genuinely changes a young person's life
Schedule
- Permanent contract, 32 or 24 hours per week (your preference)
- 8 hour shifts, Monday - Sunday available
- Discussed and agreed at interview to suit you and the family
- Shift times are 9:00am - 17:00pm
