Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Steel Dispatch Coordinator to join our team on a permanent basis, working shifts from 2 PM to 10 PM. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the dispatch of steel products, ensuring efficient logistics operations, and maintaining seamless communication across supply chain processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organisation specialising in materials handling and logistics within the steel industry.
Duties
- Oversee and coordinate the dispatch of steel products, ensuring timely delivery and accurate documentation.
- Utilise transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS) to optimise dispatch schedules and inventory control.
- Manage shipping and receiving activities, including scheduling, tracking, and verifying shipments.
- Collaborate with category management teams to streamline processes and improve dispatch workflows.
- Analyse data related to logistics operations to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Utilise ERP systems such as AS400 for order processing, stock control, and reporting purposes.
- Coordinate with 3PL providers to ensure compliance with service levels and delivery standards.
- Handle materials movement within the warehouse using forklift trucks and other materials handling equipment.
- Assist in picking & packing activities as required, maintaining accuracy and efficiency in fulfilment tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Strong knowledge of logistics processes including shipping & receiving, materials handling, and warehouse management systems.
- Valid forklift licence or experience operating forklift trucks is desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Good communication skills for liaising with internal teams, suppliers, and logistics providers..
- Ability to work independently whilst maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
