Secondary ASC Teacher
Hounslow
Permanent or Fixed-Term Maternity Cover | Full-Time
£40,657 - £58,941 plus SEN allowance
Some young people arrive at secondary school carrying years of anxiety around education.
For some, classrooms have felt overwhelming, unpredictable, or simply impossible to navigate. Communication may have broken down. Trust in adults may have become fragile. By the time they reach secondary age, many are not just disengaged from learning, they are exhausted by it.
But in the right environment, with the right teacher, things can begin to change.
A specialist SEND school in West London is seeking a thoughtful and committed Secondary ASC Teacher to join its growing team. The school supports pupils with Autism and complex needs and has been purposefully designed to create calm, structured, and highly supportive learning environments where young people feel safe enough to engage, communicate, and thrive.
This is a setting where relationships come first. Classes are small, support is high, and staff work collaboratively around each pupil. Therapy teams, support staff, and leadership are closely connected, creating a culture where teachers feel supported rather than isolated.
The Role
The school is looking for a Secondary ASC Teacher to join on either a permanent basis or a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
You will teach a small class of pupils with Autism and associated complex needs, delivering a highly personalised curriculum that focuses not only on academic progress, but also communication, emotional regulation, independence, confidence, and preparation for adulthood.
The school welcomes applications from:
- Experienced SEND teachers
- Mainstream secondary teachers looking to move into specialist education
- ECTs with a strong interest in SEND
The leadership team understands that many outstanding SEND practitioners began their careers in mainstream settings. What matters most is your ability to build meaningful relationships, adapt your practice thoughtfully, and remain curious about how each pupil experiences the world around them.
The School Would Particularly Value Experience or Interest in:
- Autism and complex needs
- Trauma-informed and relational practice
- THRIVE approaches
- Communication and sensory needs
- Behaviour support strategies
- Personalised and differentiated teaching
This role would suit subject specialists who are looking for a more relational and individualised style of teaching, away from the pressure of performance-driven environments and towards work that feels genuinely impactful.
What the School Offers
- Small classes and high staffing ratios
- A warm, collaborative, and highly supportive team
- Integrated therapy and pastoral support
- Extensive CPD and specialist SEND training
- Clear progression opportunities as the school continues to grow
- Leadership that prioritises staff wellbeing and reflective practice
QTS is required, although ECT applications are welcomed.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be subject to enhanced DBS and online checks.
