SGD Group is a leading provider of integrated security solutions, delivering high-quality CCTV, Intruder Alarm and Access Control systems to commercial and industrial clients across the UK. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Estimator to join our team.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in electronic security systems who is looking to move into a more commercially focused role. It may particularly suit an experienced engineer or supervisor wishing to step away from the tools while continuing to utilise their valuable industry knowledge.
The Role
Working closely with clients, suppliers and the wider operations team, you will be responsible for preparing quotations and estimates for security projects, ensuring solutions are technically compliant and commercially competitive.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting site surveys to assess customer requirements and identify suitable security solutions.
- Preparing detailed quotations and cost estimates for CCTV, Intruder Alarm and Access Control installations, upgrades and remedial works.
- Reviewing specifications, drawings and customer requirements.
- Providing technical advice and support to customers and internal teams.
- Ensuring proposals comply with relevant British Standards and UK regulations.
- Liaising with manufacturers, suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and technical information.
- Supporting business development activities and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Assisting with project handovers to operational teams.
- Attending client meetings and carrying out occasional site visits as required.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Proven experience within the UK electronic security industry.
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including:
- BS EN 50131 – Intruder and Hold-Up Alarm Systems.
- BS EN 62676 – CCTV Surveillance Systems.
- BS EN 60839 – Electronic Access Control Systems.
- Familiarity with NSI requirements.
- An understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act as they relate to CCTV systems.
- Previous experience as a Security Systems Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, Supervisor or similar role.
- Experience carrying out site surveys and producing technical recommendations.
- The ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of leading manufacturers such as Hikvision, Hanwha Vision, Avigilon, Paxton, Gallagher, Honeywell, Texecom, Ajax or similar would be advantageous.
