About the Role
An experienced and passionate Senior Residential Childcare Worker is required for a Bottesford-based children’s residential home supporting young people aged 10–18 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and complex needs.
The role involves providing a safe, nurturing and structured environment that promotes positive emotional, social and developmental outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the home, lead shifts, mentor junior staff and deliver high-quality care in line with safeguarding and Ofsted standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality care and emotional support to children and young people
- Lead shifts and support the daily operation of the home
- Carry out key working sessions and build positive relationships
- Support young people with education, routines, hobbies and life skills
- Complete care plans, risk assessments and daily recordings
- Manage behaviours positively using therapeutic approaches
- Facilitate young people’s meetings and activities
- Delegate tasks and support team members during shifts
- Conduct shift debriefs and incident reviews
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive outcomes
RequirementsEssential
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 or 4 in Children & Young People / Residential Childcare
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in residential childcare
- Experience supporting children with EBD, learning difficulties or complex needs
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, resilient and professional in challenging situations
Desirable
- Experience leading shifts or supervising staff
- Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Home Standards
- Experience completing risk assessments and care documentation
