About the Role
We are seeking experienced and meticulous 33kV and 66kV HV Technicians to join our team on a major wind turbine project. In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the integrity, safety, and reliability of our high-voltage infrastructure. You will specialize in the critical testing, commissioning, and inspection phases of the wind farm’s 33/66kV network, ensuring all components meet strict industry and project standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Testing & Commissioning: Execute Very Low Frequency (VLF testing) and insulation resistance testing on cables and associated equipment.
- Thorough Inspections: Perform detailed visual and physical inspections of high-voltage components, focusing on:
- Sheath integrity testing and fault location.
- T-boot installation, tracking, and inspection.
- Cable couplings and terminations.
- Quality Assurance: Identify, document, and report any anomalies, defects, or deviations from engineering specifications.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to High Voltage Safety Rules, ensuring all risk assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and safety protocols are followed.
- Reporting: Complete accurate testing logs, inspection checklists, and hand-over documentation for the client and project management teams.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Proven track record working as an HV Technician on wind turbine projects, specifically with experience in 33/66kV systems.
- Technical Expertise: Confident in setting up and executing VLF testing, with strong practical knowledge of testing sheath integrity, T-boots, and couplings.
- Certifications:
- Relevant High Voltage Authorisation (e.g., Authorized Person / Competent Person status).
- Full GWO (Global Wind Organisation) certificates for offshore/onshore project environments.
- Valid HUET / EBS (if offshore).
- Electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Mindset: A strong safety-first attitude, excellent eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, challenging environments.
