We are seeking a skilled Freelance Interpreter to facilitate clear and accurate communication between parties in various settings. Duties
- Provide real-time interpretation services during meetings, conferences, legal proceedings, medical appointments, or other events requiring bilingual communication.
- Accurately translate spoken language from source to target language, maintaining the original tone and intent.
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant terminology or subject matter as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards at all times.
- Collaborate with clients and organisations to understand specific interpretation requirements and preferences.
- Manage scheduling of appointments and assignments independently, ensuring timely delivery of services.
- Keep records of completed assignments for billing and professional development purposes.
- Stay updated on industry-specific terminology and cultural nuances relevant to your languages of expertise.
Experience
- Proven experience as a freelance interpreter or in a similar role involving live interpretation.
- Fluency in at least two languages recognised by relevant accreditation bodies; additional languages are advantageous.
- Strong understanding of cultural contexts related to the languages spoken.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret accurately under pressure.
- Previous experience working with specialised terminology in fields such as healthcare, legal, or technical environments is desirable.
- Ability to work independently with excellent organisational skills and reliability.
- Professional certification or accreditation from recognised interpreting bodies is preferred but not essential.
