Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our early childhood education centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. This role involves coordinating staff, developing programmes, and maintaining high standards of childcare and education. Applicants should have relevant nursery experience and a solid understanding of early childhood development principles. A valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate organisational tasks and community engagement.
Duties
- Manage the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring smooth operational procedures
- Lead, motivate, and supervise nursery staff to deliver high-quality childcare and early education programmes
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational activities that promote children's development in line with early childhood education standards
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and Ofsted requirements
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and external agencies to support children's wellbeing and development
- Organise staff rotas, recruitment, training sessions, and performance appraisals
- Oversee administrative tasks including record keeping, budgeting, and resource management
- Ensure effective communication within the team and with parents to promote transparency and trust
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance nursery standards and service delivery
Qualifications
- Proven management experience within a nursery or childcare setting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team
- Extensive knowledge of early childhood education practices and child development milestones
- Experience working directly with children in a childcare environment
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to organise workload efficiently whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for transportation or outreach activities
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are essential; additional early childhood education qualifications are desirable
