Within this vision, the Student Life Directorate plays a central role in assisting students from transition through to successful completion, providing expert guidance on engagement, wellbeing and student success.
We are seeking a Student Engagement Officer – Data and Insights to join our Student Engagement Team and play a key role in supporting student retention, progression and success.
This role combines direct student engagement with a specialist focus on data and systems, operating across:
Proactive engagement work with students at risk of disengagement
Maintenance and development of engagement dashboards and reports that inform interventions and decision-making
Working closely with academic Schools, Registry, Visa Compliance and student support services, you will use engagement data and learner analytics to identify students requiring support and ensure timely, effective intervention.
You will also act as a data and systems champion , helping to ensure the accuracy, consistency and effective use of core engagement systems such as SITS, SEAtS and related platforms.
Analyse engagement and attendance data to identify students at risk of disengagement
Contact and support students to understand barriers and promote re‑engagement
Work collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues to triage and refer students appropriately
Maintain and develop engagement dashboards and operational reports
Investigate data quality or reporting issues and liaise with technical teams to resolve them
Produce clear, accessible insight to support decision-making within the Student Engagement Team
Contribute to projects, workshops and events across the student lifecycle
You will be a proactive and detail‑oriented professional with a passion for assisting students and using data to improve outcomes.
You will bring:
Experience supporting students or customers in Higher Education or a similar environment
Experience working with data, reports or dashboards to support operational activity
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify data inconsistencies or trends
Confidence communicating insights to non‑technical audiences
Ability to manage a varied workload, balancing student contact and data responsibilities
Experience using systems such as SITS, SEAtS, Excel or Power BI (desirable)
