Head of Mathematics
Location: Enfield
Start Date: September 2026 or October Half Term
Salary: MPS UPS (Outer London) plus TLR
Contract: Part Time or Full Time | 4 to 5 Days Per Week | Maternity Cover
Are you an experienced Maths Teacher ready to lead a strong secondary Mathematics department?
We are working with a secondary school in Enfield that is seeking a Head of Mathematics for a maternity cover role starting at the beginning of the next academic year, with flexibility for a September 2026 or October half term start. The role will run until the end of the academic year and could be offered on a 4 or 5 day per week basis.
This role is maternity cover and based in a school environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the Mathematics department during the maternity cover period
- Teaching Mathematics across KS3 and KS4
- Supporting curriculum delivery, assessment and student progress across the department
- Working closely with senior leaders and the wider Maths team
- Maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour
- Supporting staff within the department and ensuring continuity throughout the academic year
What we’re looking for:
- A qualified Mathematics Teacher with strong subject knowledge
- Experience teaching Maths at secondary level
- Previous experience as a Head of Department, Second in Department or experienced Maths leader
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- The ability to lead a department confidently during a maternity cover
- Someone reliable, organised and able to make a positive impact from the start
