Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teacher to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs within an inclusive learning environment. This role involves developing tailored programmes to promote positive behaviour, academic progress, and social skills, ensuring every child receives personalised support to thrive. The SEMH Teacher will work closely with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to deliver high-quality education and behavioural interventions.
Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across various subjects including Maths, Early Childhood Education, and Physical Education, tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH needs.
- Implement specialised strategies such as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and behaviour management techniques to support positive behavioural development.
- Provide speech therapy support and coordinate with speech and language therapists as required.
- Support early childhood development through toddler care and preschool activities, fostering a nurturing environment for young learners.
- Conduct tutoring sessions to reinforce learning objectives and assist children with homework or specific learning difficulties such as proofreading or literacy skills.
- Monitor and record pupils’ progress through detailed assessments, ensuring accurate documentation for review meetings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including special education staff, therapists, and external agencies to develop personalised education plans (PEPs).
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively by employing mentoring techniques and fostering a safe, inclusive atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Support children’s physical development by teaching physical education activities suited to their abilities.
- Provide emotional support and mentoring to help children build confidence and resilience.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children in early childhood or special education settings; preschool experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of social, emotional, and behavioural challenges faced by children with SEMH needs.
- Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, applied behaviour analysis (ABA), behaviour management strategies, and tutoring methods.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with pupils, parents, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Organised approach to lesson planning, assessment, and record keeping; proofreading skills are advantageous for supporting literacy development.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and behavioural requirements.
- Childcare qualifications or relevant teaching certifications are preferred.

Pay: £160.00-£250.00 per day
