About Radbury
Radbury Double Glazing Ltd is a long-established, family-run business with a strong reputation across Ayrshire and the surrounding areas. We are known for quality products, reliable service and a straightforward, customer-focused approach.
As our installation workload continues to grow, we are looking to work with a strong, reliable subcontract fitting team who take real pride in their work and can represent Radbury properly in customers’ homes.
This opportunity is for a team consisting of two experienced fitters and one labourer.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a fitting team who can deliver high-quality window and door installations from start to finish.
This is a subcontractor opportunity for fitters who are confident, experienced and capable of working to a proper full-finish standard. We are not looking for a basic trim-only finish. We are looking for tradesmen who understand that a Radbury installation should look clean, complete and professionally finished before the team leaves site.
The right team will be able to manage the full installation process, including removal, preparation, fitting, sealing, finishing, joinery detail where required, making good, tidying the work area and handing the job back to the customer in the highest possible condition.
Key Responsibilities
The subcontract fitting team will be responsible for:
- Removing existing windows, doors and associated products safely and carefully.
- Installing new windows, doors and related products to a high professional standard.
- Working from survey details, drawings, specifications and job instructions.
- Preparing openings properly before installation.
- Ensuring products are installed square, level, secure, sealed and weather-tight.
- Completing neat internal and external finishing to Radbury’s standards.
- Carrying out appropriate joinery and woodwork finishing where required.
- Making good surrounding areas where this forms part of the agreed installation.
- Ensuring trims, sealants, boards and finishing details are neat, consistent and properly completed.
- Protecting customers’ homes and keeping disruption to a minimum.
- Leaving all work areas clean, tidy and safe.
- Reporting any survey discrepancies, access issues, defects or unexpected site conditions to the Installations Manager.
- Ensuring the labourer supports the fitters effectively with preparation, handling, tidying and safe site working.
- Representing Radbury professionally with customers at all times.
Labourer Responsibilities
The labourer will support the experienced fitters by helping to keep each installation running safely, efficiently and tidily.
Duties may include:
- Assisting with loading, unloading and moving materials.
- Helping to remove existing windows, doors and waste materials safely.
- Keeping the work area clean, tidy and organised throughout the job.
- Protecting customers’ property, flooring and surrounding areas.
- Supporting the fitters with preparation tasks.
- Passing tools, materials and equipment as required.
- Helping with site clean-up and waste removal.
- Following instructions from the experienced fitters.
- Working safely and professionally while on site.
The labourer is not expected to lead fitting work, but must be reliable, practical, hard-working and able to support the team properly.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a team with strong fitting experience, good workmanship and a professional attitude.
The experienced fitters should be confident installing windows and doors in occupied homes, dealing with the realities of different property types, and completing the job to a standard that both Radbury and the customer can be happy with.
The labourer should be reliable, hard-working, practical and able to support the fitters by helping the job run smoothly from start to finish.
Essential Requirements
For the experienced fitters:
- Proven experience fitting windows and doors.
- Ability to deliver a full-finish installation, not just a trim finish.
- Good joinery, woodwork and finishing skills where needed.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work from surveys, drawings and job sheets.
- Good customer manner.
- Reliable timekeeping and communication.
- Own tools.
- Own van preferred
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Appropriate insurance as a subcontractor.
For the labourer:
- Practical, hard-working and reliable.
- Good timekeeping.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Willingness to support with manual handling, preparation and clean-up.
- Respectful manner with customers and colleagues.
- Awareness of safe working practices.
Standards Expected
Radbury expects subcontract fitting teams to:
- Take pride in the quality of the finished job.
- Treat customers’ homes with care and respect.
- Communicate clearly with the Installations Manager and office team.
- Raise issues early rather than leaving problems unresolved.
- Work safely and professionally.
- Keep the labourer properly supervised and working safely.
- Complete installations to a high standard with minimal snagging.
- Protect Radbury’s reputation on every job.
