Role Duties
The role involves leading and overseeing a variety of technology projects within the organisation, managing project lifecycles from initiation to completion. The IT Project Manager will ensure delivery aligns with organisational goals, budgets, and timelines, coordinate cross-functional teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and ensure the successful implementation of IT solutions that support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project management for multiple IT initiatives, including software development, infrastructure upgrades, and cloud computing deployments such as AWS
- Develop detailed project plans using project management software like Microsoft Project, TFS, or SharePoint; monitor progress and adjust schedules as necessary
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, and success criteria
- Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure on-time delivery within scope
- Coordinate with technical teams on SDLC processes, test-driven development, user acceptance testing (UAT), and release management
- Utilise analysis skills to assess project risks, dependencies, and potential issues; implement mitigation strategies accordingly
- Oversee the creation of test cases and scripts to validate system functionality during testing phases
- Lead programme management activities across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with organisational strategies such as Kanban or Scrum frameworks
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels through written reports and presentations; negotiate priorities and resolve conflicts efficiently
- Ensure compliance with disaster recovery protocols and security standards throughout project execution
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing complex IT projects using methodologies such as SAFe or Waterfall
- Extensive knowledge of project management tools including Microsoft Project, Jira, TFS, Visio, and SharePoint
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), cloud computing platforms like AWS or Oracle Cloud, and database systems such as SQL or Oracle
- Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail; capable of managing time efficiently under tight deadlines
- Experience in requirements gathering, analysis skills, test-driven development practices, and user acceptance testing processes
- Effective communication skills for liaising between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
Position in Hierarchy
This role will sit within the technical/project management function, coordinating cross-functional and technical teams to ensure successful delivery of IT projects aligned with organisational strategy.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of programme management principles including release management and disaster recovery planning
- Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe Agilist) would be advantageous
- Masters Degree in computer sciences or AI
