About the Role
A specialist SEN school in Enfield is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional and complex needs while working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff in a highly rewarding educational environment.
The school caters for pupils with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), speech and language needs, and associated communication difficulties. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting learning, leading interventions, and providing classroom cover when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups
- Provide classroom cover and lead learning activities when required
- Support pupils with communication, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Assist in implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Promote independence, confidence, and life skills development
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to support pupil progress
- Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent school-based experience
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN
- Strong behaviour management and classroom support skills
- Ability to confidently lead small groups and whole-class activities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
- Experience within a specialist SEN school or alternative provision
- Knowledge of ASC, SLD, PMLD, SEMH, or communication needs
- Experience using PECS, Makaton, AAC, or sensory-based approaches
- Experience delivering interventions and supporting curriculum planning

Pay: £107.68-£154.57 per day
