Abacus Care Home require Full Time Care Assistant 35 hours per week (days). Applicants MUST HAVE NVQ 2 in Health & social care or working towards this and experience of working in a care home before.
The successful applicant must be prepared to work shifts and weekends on a rota basis with 1 full weekend off a month. shifts are 8am till 3pm and 3pm till 10pm. Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant (Days) to join our team in providing high-quality care within a care home setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting residents with their daily needs, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Duties
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming in accordance with care plans
- Support residents with mobility and daily activities to promote independence
- Administer medication as directed and maintain accurate records
- Engage residents in social activities and meaningful conversations to enhance their quality of life
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ health or behaviour to the senior team
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the care home
- Liaise effectively with colleagues, residents, and families to ensure personalised care delivery
- Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations
Experience
- Previous experience working within a care home or home care environment is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided
- Knowledge of care plans and procedures relevant to elderly or vulnerable adults
- Good IT skills for maintaining accurate documentation and records
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for supporting residents’ outings or appointments
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism at all times
