About Us:
Laker Vent Engineering is a leading mechanical contractor operating within the engineering construction industry. We specialise in the installation of highly regulated process piping systems, delivering high-quality solutions for blue chip clients across the Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, and Petrochemical sectors.
Role:
We are currently seeking Welders with proven experience in TIG welding of stainless steel and carbon steel piping systems. The ideal candidate will be capable of producing high-quality welds that meet rigorous visual inspection and NDT standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform TIG welding on stainless steel and carbon steel piping systems in accordance with project specifications and industry standards
- Work effectively as part of a site-based installation team
- Adhere to safety and quality procedures at all times
- Complete tasks to a high standard within agreed timeframes
- Assist in the preparation, fitting, and fabrication of pipework as required
Qualifications & Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 in Welding or Pipefitting (or equivalent)
- Valid CCNSG, CSCS, or recognised equivalent safety passport
- Demonstrated experience with TIG welding in a site-based environment
- Familiarity with welding procedures and acceptance criteria for NDT and visual inspection
- Must have valid Right to Work in the UK
Special Requirements:
- Offer of employment is subject to passing a weld test to verify competence and quality standards.
Rates & Allowances:
- Contract Type: PAYE Only
- NAECI categorised rates (2026):
- Basic: £23.25
- OT1: £32.55
- OT2: £41.84
- Weld proficiency bonus applicable
- IBA Payment: £2.37/hour
OT
- Mon to Thurs- OT1 after 8 hrs
- Fri OT1 after 6 hrs
- Sat- OT1 first 4 hrs, OT2 all other hours (generally 4)
- Sun- All hours OT2
Working Hours
- Minimum 100 hrs over 11 days
- 108+ hrs available over the same 11 day period
Week 1
- Mon – Thurs : 10.5 hours | Fri-Sun: 8 hours
Week 2
- Mon – Thurs: 10.5 hours | Fri-Sun: OFF
