Smartcall Recruitment are seeking expereinced HGV2 HIAB drivers who can accept assignments with various builders merchants to cover shifts as per your availabilty. In this vital role, you will operate a Class 2 Heavy Goods Vehicle equipped with a HIAB (Hydraulic Inflatible Arm Boom) crane, delivering and unloading heavy loads with precision and safety.
Your expertise in commercial driving, coupled with mechanical knowledge and excellent communication skills, will ensure smooth logistics operations while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 2 commercial vehicle with HIAB crane to deliver goods to various locations, including construction sites, residential addresses, warehouses, and client sites
- Load and unload freight using the HIAB crane, pallet jacks, and manual handling techniques while adhering to safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle and crane equipment to ensure optimal functioning and compliance with safety regulations
- Plan efficient routes for timely deliveries, maintaining communication with dispatchers and clients throughout the day
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports for each trip and shipment
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies to ensure safe driving practices at all times
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial driving, route driving or delivery driver roles involving heavy vehicles or freight transportation.
- Valid HIAB licence.
- Valid Class 2 driver’s licence with a no more than 6 penalty points.
- A digital Tachograph card
- A drivers CPC (DQC card)
- Mechanical knowledge of commercial vehicles, and heavy equipment operation.
- Demonstrated ability to load & unload cargo safely using HIAB.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and clients effectively.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to HIAB delivery work.
