Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health, Safety & Quality Advisor to support and enhance our organisation’s compliance and performance in health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving continual improvement in HSEQ standards across our operations, ensuring adherence to statutory obligations and industry best practices, and maintaining our ISO-certified management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) standards.
- Provide competent advice and guidance on all matters related to health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Promote a positive safety culture through training, awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and engagement across all levels of the organisation.
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations, and follow up with corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain and update HSEQ documentation, including policies, procedures, and site-specific risk controls.
- Monitor, report, and analyse HSEQ performance data, ensuring effective implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and certification providers to ensure ongoing compliance and readiness for audits.
- Assist project teams with pre-construction health and safety planning, method statements, and site inspections.
Essential Requirements:
- A recognised Health & Safety qualification, such as NEBOSH National General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
- Proven working knowledge and experience in maintaining and auditing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health, safety, and/or quality advisory role, preferably within construction, engineering, or manufacturing sectors.
- Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Competence in report writing, document control, and Microsoft Office tools.
Desirable:
- Membership of a professional body such as IOSH, IEMA, or CQI.
- Experience with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management).
- Environmental auditing or sustainability experience.
