Are you a compassionate, reliable person who genuinely enjoys making a difference to older people's lives? Castlemaine Care Home is looking for an experienced Care Assistant to join our dedicated team.
We're a dementia-specialist care home committed to delivering person-centred care with warmth, dignity and respect. If you share those values, we'd love to hear from you.
What we offer
- £12.71 per hour
- 30-hour guaranteed contract, with the option to pick up additional shifts
- Flexible working across days and nights — typical shifts are 08:00–20:00 or 20:00–08:00
- Workplace pension
- Free on-site parking
- Clear progression routes and ongoing development opportunities
About the role
No two days are the same, but here's what a typical shift looks like. You'll start with a handover from the outgoing team, then spend your shift supporting residents with personal care, mealtimes, mobility and activities. You'll build real relationships with the people you care for — chatting over breakfast, joining in with activities, or simply sitting with someone who needs company. You'll record care clearly in each resident's care plan and flag anything that concerns you to the senior in charge or manager before you leave.
What you'll be doing
- Providing personal care with dignity — washing, dressing, grooming and oral hygiene
- Supporting residents at mealtimes, including assisting those who need help to eat and drink
- Assisting with mobility, safe moving and handling, and bed care
- Supporting residents to use the toilet or commode, and recording this accurately in care plans
- Engaging residents in activities, conversation and social events — building genuine relationships
- Supporting Housekeeping to keep residents' rooms and communal areas clean, safe and tidy
- Recording care clearly and promptly in residents' care plans to support audit and handover
- Reporting any concerns, hazards or changes in a resident's condition to the nurse in charge
- Maintaining confidentiality of all resident information at all times
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a care setting, or a relevant qualification in Health and Social Care (e.g. NVQ/QCF Level 2 or above)
- A kind, patient and person-centred approach
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexibly across day and night shifts
- Right to work in the UK — please note we are not able to offer visa sponsorship at this time
Reporting to: Senior Carer on duty and the Registered Manager.
Start date: We're looking to appoint as soon as possible.
Making a real difference to someone living with dementia starts with the right people. If that sounds like you, apply now with your CV — we'd love to welcome you to the Castlemaine family!
