Post-16 Teaching Assistant
At Sense Education, we believe that the right support at the right time can transform a young person’s future. We are currently working in partnership with a dedicated post-16 SEND unit to find a Teaching Assistant who understands that education is about far more than academics – it’s about confidence, independence and feeling seen.
This role is based within a specialist post-16 setting, supporting young people with a range of additional needs as they prepare for life beyond education. The environment is calm, purposeful and centred on helping students develop practical skills, communication and self-belief.
We are looking for someone who brings patience, curiosity and a genuine interest in how each individual learns.
What you’ll be doing:
· Supporting learners aged 16+ with a variety of additional needs, both in and out of the classroom
· Working closely with teaching staff to adapt activities so every student can access learning in a meaningful way
· Encouraging independence, communication and life skills
· Creating a supportive, consistent presence that students can rely on

Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Experience supporting children with SEND
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour
Working hours
Monday – Friday
8.30am – 3.30pm
This role would suit someone who is passionate about inclusive early education and wants to be part of a team where relationships and understanding come first.
Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
