We are seeking 2 x dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join our support worker team.
If you are creative, an animal lover and love the outdoors, you would be an ideal fit to provide night shift care support and assist our client by supporting him to enjoy fun activities which stimulate and enable ‘Tim’ to progress with his rehabilitation.
Prior experience in care would be beneficial, although not essential as we provide full training. What is essential is a genuine and caring profile and an interest in a career in care and rehabilitation. There is already a welcoming support team in place, ready to assist you in this exciting job role.

Our client is currently in a low awareness state and is physically, functionally, and cognitively dependent on others for all aspects of care. However, he engages well with his family, friends, and care team.
His rehabilitation is supported by a multidisciplinary team including a Neuro Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Music Therapist, and Speech and Language Therapist, who provide ongoing guidance and training.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- To build a positive and respectful relationship with ‘Tims’ mother and family in order to gain their support.
- To support ‘Tim' in every area of his life, so that he can lead the life he wants to live in the way he wants to live it, using his support, care and therapy plans and risk assessments.
- To provide ‘Tim’ with a safe and supportive relationship in which professional boundaries and ‘Tim’s’ wellbeing is always promoted.
- To assist ‘Tim’ to maintain his personal hygiene; this may require both personal and intimate care.
- To assist ‘Tim’ to get dressed/undressed and make appropriate clothing choices in view of activity/ temperature/social setting, etc.
- To manage ‘Tim’s’ nutritional intake via his PEG-J tube (full training will be given).
- To administer medications as prescribed via ‘Tim’s’ PEG-J tube (full training will be given).
- To provide ‘Tim’ with assistance to engage in fun, stimulating, home-based activities, e.g., listening to music, hand massages, baking, games, etc.
- To explore, develop and sustain beneficial community-based activities for ‘Tim’, contribute to risk assessments for suitability, and to escort to and participate in agreed activities and venues as required.
- To assist ‘Tim’ to always promote his independence and choice, whilst ensuring he is safe and protected from harm.
- To assist ‘Tim’ to maintain a clean and tidy environment in areas of the home and garden.
- To work closely with ‘Tim’s’ advocate and communicate effectively and professionally
- To follow the advice and guidance of other professionals involved in the therapeutic support of ‘Tim’ such as engagement in music therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy to include use of specialist equipment of which you will be fully trained to use.
- To drive ‘Tim’s’ WAV
- To attend daytime training sessions as advised by the Case Manager at the Office of ACM Ltd in; in ‘Tim’s’ home, remotely via video link; or online. Including supervisions, team meetings and appraisals as required.
- To keep written records as advised by the Case Manager, and in line with the requirements of the Care Quality Commission.
- Always ensuring ‘Tim’s comfort and happiness and reporting any concerns to his parents and the case manager/assistant case manager.
- Supporting ‘Tim’ to stay active and follow his Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy programmes.
Experience:
- Experience working with clients with brain injuries.
- Experience caring for clients who use nonverbal forms of communication
- Experience of working in a client’s own home, alongside family.
- Experience using MAR charts, completing support worker daily records and other administrative tasks.
- Experience following support plans, manual handling guidance and other health professionals’ advice.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of confidentiality, safeguarding and the maintenance of professional boundaries.
- Knowledge of brain injuries.
- Knowledge of Epilepsy
Skills:
- Confident driving a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV).
- Clean manual driving licence.
- Computer literate, able to use Teams for meetings if required.
- Good standard of written reporting.

Working Environment
You will be working in the family home, with therapists, a support team and family. The therapists involved are a Neuro Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Music Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist who all train and support the team with ‘Tim’s’ rehabilitation program.
All of the above will be fully explained to the successful candidates at the time of employment in the Terms and Conditions of Employment.
Training
A full induction programme plus regular support, supervision and ongoing training will be provided.
Hours
Please note some day shift work may be required to cover holiday and sickness. However, this is predominantly a night shift role.
We are looking for candidates that can commit to either x 2 ten hour night shifts per week or x4 ten hour night shifts per week.

The ability to respect the privacy of ‘Tim’ and his family is fundamental to this position. All matters relating to ‘Tim’s condition are to be treated as confidential and are not to be disclosed to a third party. As this employment is based in the private home, it is inevitable that on occasions the carers will become privy to certain matters relating to the personal life and business affairs of ‘Tim’ and his family. These too should be treated with the utmost confidentiality and, wherever possible, all support staff should avoid coming into contact with family’s personal belongings and correspondence.

Due to the nature of this work, successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. In addition, references will be fully pursued before a full appointment can be made.
