Every Behaviour Has a Story. Every Child Has a Future.
At Halls Homes, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, cared for and supported; day and night.
We're looking for a compassionate, reliable and vigilant Therapeutic Waking Night Support Worker to join our dedicated team, helping provide a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment for up to three children aged 10–18.
While the home is quieter overnight, the role is far more than simply staying awake. You will play a vital part in safeguarding children, maintaining the home's safety and responding calmly and therapeutically whenever children need support during the night.
About Us
Halls Homes is a children's residential home providing therapeutic care for young people who have experienced trauma, loss and adversity.
Our practice is underpinned by Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP) and the PACE approach, meaning we seek to understand the story behind behaviour rather than simply manage it.
Every interaction is an opportunity to help a child feel:
- Safe
- Seen
- Heard
- Valued
- Connected
About the Role
As our Therapeutic Waking Night Support Worker, you will remain awake throughout your shift to ensure the safety, wellbeing and security of both the children and the home.
A sleep-in member of staff will also be on shift; however, your role is to provide continuous overnight supervision, respond to any situations that arise and ensure children remain safe while maintaining a calm and reassuring environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Throughout the night you will:
- Promote a calm, safe and therapeutic environment.
- Monitor the home and complete regular safety and welfare checks.
- Support children who wake during the night with empathy, patience and reassurance.
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, incidents or emergencies.
- Follow missing from home procedures should a child leave the home overnight.
- Ensure kitchen facilities and communal areas are used safely and appropriately during the night.
- Complete accurate, professional and child-centred records.
- Undertake household tasks to support the smooth running of the home where appropriate.
- Prepare the home for the morning shift.
- Handover clearly to the day team to ensure continuity of care.
We're Looking For Someone Who Is...
✔ Calm and emotionally resilient
✔ Compassionate and child-focused
✔ Observant and able to identify potential risks
✔ Able to work independently while remaining part of a supportive team
✔ Professional, reliable and organised
✔ Confident responding to emergencies and safeguarding concerns
Experience in children's residential care is welcomed but not essential if you have the right values and commitment to learning.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary
- Comprehensive induction programme
- Ongoing training and professional development
- Specialist therapeutic training, including DDP and PACE-informed practice
- Regular reflective practice and supervision
- Career progression opportunities
- Supportive and approachable leadership team
- A beautiful, newly refurbished home
- The opportunity to make a genuine difference in children's lives
Essential Requirements
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work waking night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota
- Successful enhanced DBS check
- Right to work in the UK
