We’re Hiring: Secondary English Teacher (Years 7–11 + A-levels | iGCSE Edexcel)

Part-time | Online | Small Classes (Maximum 10 Students)
UK Virtual School is looking for an experienced and engaging Secondary English Teacher to teach students in Years 7–11 (including Edexcel iGCSE English Language and Literature and A-levels) through live online lessons.
Applicants must also be available to attend staff induction during the final week of August 2026.
This role is ideal for a teacher who:
✨ Has strong experience teaching GCSE English (Edexcel iGCSE preferred) and A-levels
✨ Has 5+ years' teaching experience in UK physical schools
✨ Has taught in online settings
✨ Is comfortable delivering public speaking courses across all age groups
✨ Has drama or theatre experience (desirable)
✨ Enjoys discussion-rich lessons and collaborative textual analysis
✨ Supports students across a wide range of reading and writing abilities
✨ Values creativity, inclusion, and student voice in English learning
✨ Enjoys and has experience working with primary students to inspire a love of English
What You'll Do
- Teach small, interactive classes (maximum 10 students)
- Support student groups throughout their learning journey towards iGCSE and A-levels
- Contribute to initiatives such as reading weeks, poetry slams, debates, writing showcases, and public speaking events
- Be part of a collaborative, innovative English department
- Opportunities to participate in literature events, trips, and enrichment opportunities
Requirements
- Degree in English (or a closely related subject)
- PGCE and QTS
- Minimum 5 years' teaching experience in British schools in the UK
- Experience teaching GCSE English Language (Literature desirable)
- Able to teach A-levels
- Experience teaching in both physical and online school environments
- Confident using Zoom and Google Workspace
- Able to attend in-person staff training in the UK once per year
- Valid Enhanced DBS
