Barker Shoes is seeking an experienced Welt Sewer Machine Operatoror or Toe Lasting Machine Operator to join our skilled footwear manufacturing team in Northampton.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced footwear professional with a background in Goodyear Welted Shoe Production, traditional shoemaking, and welt sewing operations to work within one of the UK's most respected premium footwear manufacturers.
We are looking for a highly skilled individual capable of working on multiple shoe making Machine.
Key Skills & Experience Required
Essential Experience
- Welt Sewer / Welt Sewing experience
- High-quality Handcrafted Footwear Production
- All Rounder in Welt Machinist
- Produce high-quality lasted uppers in line with Barker Shoes' standards
- Work closely with the production teams
Main Responsibilities
- Operate Welt Sewer Machine Operator or Toe Lasting safely and efficiently
- Produce high-quality Goodyear welted footwear to production specifications
- Sew and construct standard, storm, split reverse, and other traditional welt variations
- Maintain exceptional quality standards and attention to detail
- Meet daily production targets while maintaining craftsmanship standards
- Carry out machine setup, adjustments, and routine maintenance checks
- Work closely with supervisors, clickers, closers, makers, finishers, and production teams
- Follow all health and safety procedures
- Support continuous improvement within the manufacturing process
Desirable Experience
- Experience with luxury or premium footwear brands
- Knowledge of leather Goodyear welted shoe production
- Experience across multiple stages of footwear manufacturing
- Understanding of quality control procedures in footwear production
