Ernest Bevin Academy is seeking to appoint a calm, resilient and highly organised Reflection Room Officer to join our committed pastoral team.
As we enter our centenary year, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting students to reflect on their behaviour, re-engage with learning and make positive choices. Our values of Ambition, Perseverance and Unity underpin everything we do.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Reflection Room (internal exclusion), ensuring a structured, purposeful and supportive environment where students can reflect and continue their learning.
Working closely with pastoral leaders and senior staff, you will help promote high expectations, reduce suspensions and support students in developing the skills needed for success.
- Has experience working with young people in a school, youth or pastoral setting
- Can manage behaviour calmly, consistently and confidently
- Builds positive and professional relationships with students, staff and families
- Is resilient, patient and able to remain composed in challenging situations
- Has excellent organisational and record-keeping skills
- Is committed to safeguarding and student wellbeing
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Supervising students in the Reflection Room and maintaining a calm, focused environment
- Reinforcing behaviour expectations and supporting students to reflect on their actions
- Ensuring students complete set work and remain engaged in learning
- Liaising with teaching staff to gather appropriate work and resources
- Monitoring and recording behaviour, attendance and progress
- Communicating with families and keeping accurate records of interactions
- Working with pastoral teams to support targeted students and reduce repeat incidents
- Promoting resilience, accountability and positive behaviour choices
- Contributing to the wider behaviour and inclusion strategy across the school
