A specialist SEMH provision in Havant are looking for a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with mental health needs. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils who may have struggled in mainstream settings and require additional support to thrive both academically and personally.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide classroom support on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities
- Encourage emotional regulation, independence, and engagement
- Promote a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs
- Have experience working in a school (desirable)
- Are calm, patient, resilient, and adaptable
- Can build professional relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
- Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
- Holds an enhanced DBS check on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
