Cornerways Homes is recruiting a Children’s Home Lead / Deputy Manager to support the launch of a new therapeutic children’s residential home in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
This is a rare opportunity to open a new home, build your own team, and progress on a clear pathway to Registered Manager while delivering high-quality care for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).

Our Therapeutic Approach (Residential Childcare)
We work in partnership with Meadows Psychology Service, delivering a trauma-informed, therapeutic model across our children’s residential homes:
- Psychological assessments within the first 3 months of placement
- Weekly clinical consultation and reflective practice sessions
- Support with therapeutic care planning and behaviour strategies
Key Responsibilities – Deputy Manager / Children’s Home Lead
- Support the Registered Manager in running the children’s residential home
- Lead, supervise, and develop a residential childcare team
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted Children’s Homes Regulations & Quality Standards
- Oversee safeguarding, risk assessments, and care planning
- Build strong partnerships with local authorities and external professionals
- Promote a safe, stable, and therapeutic environment for children (EBD)

Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare
- Significant experience in children’s residential care (EBD)
- Experience as a Deputy Manager in residential childcare
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Ofsted regulations
- Experience leading and supervising staff teams in a children’s home
