At THA, we’re focused on developing players and coaches through a modern approach to football.
As an Assistant Football Coach, you’ll work closely with Lead Coaches and the coaching team to deliver engaging, age-appropriate sessions that help every player progress technically, tactically, physically, and socially.
This role is ideal for developing coaches who want to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment while receiving structured support, feedback, and mentoring from qualified and experienced staff.
Key Responsibilities
● Support Session Delivery
Assist in planning and delivering high-quality training sessions aligned with THA’s annual coaching curriculum.
Help set up and manage practices, ensuring sessions run smoothly and safely.
● Player Engagement
Work directly with small groups or individuals to reinforce coaching points, encourage participation, and maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
Support the Lead Coach in providing feedback and motivation to players.
● Teamwork & Communication
Collaborate with Lead Coaches and fellow assistants to ensure consistent coaching practice.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and staff to promote THA’s professional standards.
● Session Evaluation & Reflection
Observe and reflect on session outcomes, contributing ideas for future improvements.
Take part in debriefs and use feedback to enhance your coaching approach.
● Safety & Welfare
Maintain a safe environment for all participants by adhering to safeguarding, first aid, and equipment standards.

Essential Skills & Qualifications
● Minimum FA Level 1 / Introduction to Coaching Football (or equivalent).
● Experience working with young players in a football environment.
● Strong communication, enthusiasm, and reliability.
● Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Desirable Attributes
● Some experience helping or volunteering in grassroots football (beneficial, not essential).
● Reliable and punctual – turns up prepared and ready to help.
● Good time management and able to follow a schedule or plan.
● Positive attitude and willingness to learn as part of a team.
Working Hours & Locations
We currently run sessions on Saturday mornings at Horsforth School and Pudsey Leisure Centre.
This is a part-time position, with opportunities for additional hours as THA continues to grow with new classes and venues.
