About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant / Autism Support Assistant to join a primary school in Bury. This role involves supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) across the school, both within the classroom and 1:1, helping them access learning and develop social, communication, and independent living skills.
You will play a key role in building positive relationships with students, supporting their engagement, promoting independence, and fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with Autism (ASC) in classroom learning activities and structured lessons
- Deliver targeted 1:1 support to students who require additional guidance
- Develop strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and participation
- Support teachers in adapting and delivering differentiated learning activities
- Encourage communication, social interaction, and the development of independence skills
- Implement behaviour support strategies and assist with emotional regulation
- Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment for all learners
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with students with autism or SEN is preferred. Candidates must have transferable skills, including experience from:
- SEN or autism settings
- Schools, nurseries, or educational support roles
- Youth work or mentoring
- Care or support work with children or young people
