Job Purpose
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to support pupils within a specialist resource base attached to a mainstream primary school in Handsworth Wood.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, communication difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties while helping them access both specialist and mainstream learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
- Provide individual and small group support within the resource base
- Support pupils accessing mainstream lessons where appropriate
- Assist with communication and social skills development
- Implement learning activities directed by teaching staff
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Promote pupil confidence and independence
Person Requirements
- Experience supporting children with SEND
- Positive and flexible approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to support pupils with varying needs
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two satisfactory references
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Relevant experience required, including:
- Support work
- Care work
- Tutoring
- Teaching Assistant work
- SEND school experience
