Miles Hire Limited are seeking a skilled and dedicated Service Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a wide range of Hire equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, utilising mechanical expertise and customer service skills to deliver exceptional service. This position is ideal for individuals with a technical background and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on various types of equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure operational efficiency.
- Inspect, service, and repair hire equipment (e.g. small tools, plant, and machinery)
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
- Prepare equipment for hire and ensure it meets safety standards
- Complete service records and maintain accurate documentation
- Assist with loading/unloading equipment when required
- Support depot operations and maintain a clean, safe workspace
- Travel between Cardiff and Newport depots
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Service Technician, Fitter, or similar role
- Mechanical and/or electrical knowledge of plant or tool hire equipment
- Ability to diagnose and repair faults efficiently
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience in the hire industry
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ in Plant Maintenance or similar)
- IPAF, PASMA, or similar certifications

Pay: From £31,590.00 per year
Experience:

Licence/Certification:
- full uk driving licence (required)
- NVQ service technician (preferred)
