About the Role
This SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity at a Leatherhead school will involve supporting pupils who may need help with learning, communication, emotional regulation, social interaction, and day-to-day routines.
You will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to provide consistent support that helps pupils make progress both inside and outside the classroom.
Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant
You will be supporting pupils by:

Providing one-to-one and small group support
-
Helping children access lessons and classroom activities
-
Supporting pupils with needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, sensory needs, and learning difficulties

Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive behaviour
-
Supporting transitions, routines, and emotional wellbeing
-
Helping adapt resources and learning activities where needed

Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other support staff

Promoting a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment based in Leatherhead
What We're Looking For in a SEN Teaching Assistant
To be successful, you will need to:

Have previous experience working with SEN children
-
Have a Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one

Be patient, resilient, empathetic, and consistent
-
Communicate well with pupils, staff, and families
-
Be confident supporting children who may present challenging behaviour
-
Understand the importance of safeguarding and child welfare

Be passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
